Candle Care
Thank you for choosing a Wicked Willow candle! Every candle is hand-poured with care, and following these simple tips will help you enjoy a cleaner, safer, and longer-lasting burn.
Before You Light
Trim your wick.
Before every burn, trim both wicks to approximately 1/4 inch. This helps prevent excessive flames, reduces soot, and promotes an even burn.
Place your candle on a heat-resistant surface.
Always burn your candle on a stable, heat-safe surface away from drafts, fans, open windows, curtains, and anything flammable.
The First Burn Matters
Your first burn sets the stage for every burn that follows.
Allow the wax to melt completely across the surface of the candle before extinguishing it. This usually takes 2–4 hours, depending on the size of the candle. A full melt pool helps prevent tunneling and ensures your candle burns evenly throughout its life.
During Each Burn
- Burn your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time.
- Keep the wax free of wick trimmings, matches, and other debris.
- Never move a candle while the wax is melted or the jar is hot.
- Always extinguish the flame before leaving the room.
When to Stop Burning
For your safety, discontinue use when approximately 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the jar. Burning beyond this point can cause the container to overheat.
Candle Safety
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep away from children and pets.
- Keep away from flammable materials.
- Never burn a candle near anything that can catch fire.
- Always allow the candle to cool completely before handling or relighting.
Reuse Your Jar
Once your candle has reached the end of its life and has completely cooled, remove any remaining wax, wash the jar with warm soapy water, and give it a second life! Our glass jars are perfect for storing cotton swabs, makeup brushes, pens, small plants, or other household essentials.
A Note About Handmade Candles
Every Wicked Willow candle is hand-poured in small batches. Because of this, slight variations in wax color, surface texture, or label placement are completely normal and do not affect the quality or performance of your candle. Product images may also be enhanced or styled using AI for presentation purposes, so your candle may vary slightly from the photos shown.
Thank you for supporting our small business. We hope every Wicked Willow candle fills your home with comfort, warmth, and fragrance you'll love.
